Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Carlen Dixon

February 13th, 2003

Welcome to the world, little one! Today Mr. and Mrs. Carlen Dixon brought into this world a brand new baby girl - Ava Elizabeth Dixon. Carlen gave Jimmy a call to let him know about the new baby and of course he was not home so we know little but will fill you in as soon as we know.

CONGRATULATIONS
Now we think Carlen said it best in a email he sent Jimmy, Here is a portion of that email. And you can hear the sound of one happy NEW Daddy.

“We got to the hospital about 2 a.m. The doctor finally showed up about 6:30 a.m. And around 6:50 a.m., Ava Elizabeth Dixon joined us in the world. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz., and is 21″ long - and she is pretty damn cool, if I say so myself. Andrea and Ava are both doing great - and hopefully they will be home on Saturday (hopefully in time for the UK-LSU game…)”

We Will Never Forget

September 11th, 2002

On this one-year anniversary, Flannery would like to honor the memories of the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001. You WILL NOT be forgotten.

Flannery’s single Believe, which reached the No. 1 position on mp3.com last year, has been dedicated to those who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on American Flight 93, which went down outside Shanksville, PA.

Singer Carlen Dixon visited Ground Zero in December.

“When I stood and looked at the place where these two incredible buildings once stood …. well, to be honest, my frist reaction was anger. I wanted the people responsible for this to pay.”

“And then you think of all the lives lost here for no reason … it’s almost inconceivable.”

“We spoke with an NYPD police officer at Ground Zero … and this guy had lost a lot of good friends in these attacks. And you could see in his eyes that he was still hurting … it just really affected me. I know Ill never forget it.”

And the rest of America will never forget it, either. Please take time today to remember those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.,54,54,

Flannery begins work on new album

August 1st, 2002

Flannery has begun writing songs that will appear on their next album, due out next winter.

The band will also be recording a song for producer Cris Moon (more details on that project are coming soon).

“we’ve been writing some really great stuff,” guitarist Jimmy Flannery said. “I think our fans are gonna like it.”

Singer Carlen Dixon said that this album will see the band returning to their roots.

“We’re getting back to doing what we do best - rock,” Dixon said. “On 2000, we tried to diversify a little; Market Street was kind of poppy, Save Me was a little grungy, and Without You even had kind of a country vibe.”

“But this album . . . It’s gonna be rocking.”

Flannery’s previous album, 2000, surpassed the sales of any other Flannery album to date.

“Believe,” the first single released from 2000, reached the No. 1 position on mp3.com. The song held the No. 1 spot for several days.

You can pick up a copy of 2000 on Flannery’s 2000 page on www.mp3.com.

Is Flannery flying away?

July 1st, 2002

No, Flannery isnt flying away but, guitarist Jimmy Flannery has always loved to fly.

“I bought the helicopter for me and Carlen to fly around in and just to have some fun - take a break from all the aggravation I sometimes get us into,” Jimmy said.

Flannery added that flying “gives us a lot of inspiration when trying to write songs.”

“Just being up there is so incredible,” singer Carlen Dixon said. “It gives you a sense of … clarity, I guess is the word. It’s really something.”

A year to the day

April 16th, 2002

The Spot, a year to the day after a car drove through — destroying the recording studio, is undergoing extensive clean-up and reconstruction efforts.

The photo on the right shows 175 lbs. of glass, only a portion of the debris removed from the Spot.

Following a freak accident a year ago which completely destroyed the buildings contents, the band is beginning the task of rebuilding, after finally being compensated for the damage.

In April of 2001, a tow-truck was loading a car at a residence just uphill from the Spot, when the tow chain broke, sending the unmanned vehicle careening out of control. And as luck would have it, the car hit directly at the center of the studio.

The vehicle, a 1985 Lincoln Town Car, struck the front door, throwing it back into the structure with incredible force. It took out the wall dividing the recording area from the control rool, and even pushed the control room countertop through the back wall.

Almost all of the equipment, including state of the art Pro Tools recording gear, digital mastering facilities, microphones and effects units were destroyed. Estimated damage to the buildings contents alone was nearly $50,000.00.

The band originally planned to rebuild the Spot at a different location, but have since decided to repair the damge.

“We looked into building again, but we’re told that the foundation of the original Spot is solid,” guitarist Jimmy Flannery said. “And we always liked the location - so we figured, lets just get it fixed back up.”

A barricade will be added to the front of the building, the band said. “Well, when we play live we have a barricade, so I guess it will follow us to the studio now,” said singer Carlen Dixon.

But even with all the damage, the accident could have been far more costly.

“After seeing all the glass, it just made me thank God again that we were’nt in the damn thing,” Flannery said.

The contractor has already reinstalled the power and started work on the studios interior. “At this rate, we’ll be back in the studio by this weekend,” Flannery added.

The band would like to thank Rhonda Curtis and Tim Toler for their help in the clean-up effort.

Flannery adopts new musical style

April 1st, 2002

In a surprising announcement today, Flannery said that they would no longer be writing and recording rock songs. The band says their new direction will combine the styles of bluegrass and hip-hop, which the band refers to as “Bluegrap.”

“With all the popularity of rap music, and the recent revival of bluegrass music in films like O Brother, Where Art Thou?, we thought it would be a great idea to fuse those styles into one…. and bluegrap was born,” said singer Carlen Dixon.

“We already have several bluegrap songs written,” guitarist Jimmy Flannery said, “including Moonshine & Juice, Straight Outta Campton, Mamaw said Knock Youns Out, and Pimpin Out My Cuzn.

The band added …. “APRIL FOOLS!”

Flannery 2 0 0 0 success

March 26th, 2002

Flannery’s album 2000 has surpassed the sales of any other Flannery album to date.

2000 has just reached the 100,000 mark in sales. Flannery would like to thank mp3.com for the huge boost in sales.

“Mp3.com allowed us the freedom to give our album to the world,” said singer Carlen Dixon.

“With our promotional team working overtime and the album available anywhere in the world, we have managed to sell our album in 12 different countries,” added guitarist Jimmy Flannery.

“Believe,” the first single released from 2000, reached the No. 1 position on mp3.com. The song held the No. 1 spot for several days.

The band affirmed that their fans have always been the real reason for their success, and added, “we’ll never be able to thank them enough.”

You can pick up a copy of 2000 on Flannery’s 2000 page on www.mp3.com.

Flannery mourns the passing of fellow musician and friend

March 12th, 2002

Glen Campbell — 1965-2002

“Goodbye, Glen . . . I will never forget my friend that taught me my first bar chords. May you sing with the angels.”

Jimmy Flannery

Jimmy Flannery to attend the NYFA

February 27th, 2002

Guitarist Jimmy Flannery has been accepted by the New York Film Academy. Jimmy will attend the NYFAs acting school this summer.

“Acting is just something Ive always been interested in,” Jimmy said. “And this opportunity came along - so I took it.”

Jimmy has written and appeared in several video shorts, as well as the bands music video for their song “Captured”.

Singer Carlen Dixon says that Jimmy is a natural at acting.

“I can remember lots of times we’d be driving back from a gig - and you get so bored, you’ll do anything to pass the time,” Dixon said.

“So Flan and I would start up these incredibly insane conversations like we were other people . . . we’d go on for hours sometimes. And you could NOT get that guy to break character — you could’nt crack him up, no matter what you said.”

“I’ll tell you — If they get him started improvising — he’ll blow them away.”
