Flannery recording in new studio - Spot 2

April 16th, 2008

Flannery has begun recording tracks in their new recording studio, the Spot 2. The band recently got their facilites rebuilt, and are back in business - although with a slight change.

“When we finally got the studio back up, calling it The Spot just didn’t feel right,” guitarist Jimmy Flannery said. “It didn’t have the same feel for some reason.”

“But the name meant so much to us - and we couldn’t think of anything we liked - we went with The Spot 2.”

“The new studio has some great recording equipment - the all digital Digi002 Pro Tools setup just sounds incredible. This next album is gonna be killer.”

The band is still writing material for the album as well.

Look for more news on Flannery’s new release in the next few months - including the album’s title.

Yep, we’re still alive!

June 6th, 2005

Flannery singer Carlen Dixon recently sent this brief message. He says that he and Flan are working on some new tunes now (sweet!) and that hopefully theyll be back in the studio soon. Heres the full message:

Hey guys! Just wanted to drop a note here to let everyone know we’re still around. Jimmy and I have actually been working on some new stuff - we’re still hoping to start recording soon.

By the way, the new music we’re writing is a lot closer to our old stuff - so I think you guys will dig it. We tried to mix things up a bit on “2000″, but a lot of you let us know (some of you rather bluntly) that you’ve had enough of our little experimentation, and (as one fan put it)you want us to “bring back the rock” - so That’s what we’re gonna do on this next album. Believe me, it will definitely be rocking!

So we havent given up - even though the website may have seemed that way for a while. And we really appreciate the folks who havent given up on US.

We’ll try to do a better job of keeping you guys informed - and thanks for checking in!

Take care,
Carlen

Mp3.com Shuts Down

December 12th, 2003

MP3.com, the online service that hosted the Flannery music catalog over the internet, has ceased operations. The company was bought out by CNET, who plan on offering similar services in the coming weeks.

According to the company’s website, “First - for all of you who come to MP3.com to find music, you will see that we currently don’t have any to offer. This is a temporary situation. We are working hard on developing a next generation digital music information service that will make it easier than ever to find the music you want online, as well as to discover new artists and keep up with all your current favorites.”

Flannery has already been in talks with CNET about hosting their music online, and the band hopes to have their tunes back on the web sometime after the first of the year.

Flannery songs to appear in independent film

August 27th, 2003

Three songs from Flannery’s album 2000 will be heard in the independent motion picture Forever In Black Hills.

Forever in Black Hills is a low budget, independent film produced by Charles Shouse (Showhouse Productions) and Michael Shouse.

The film was written and directed by first time director Charles Shouse, a native of Eastern Kentucky, and was shot on location in Breathitt County, Ky. and the City of Jackson, Ky.

Flannery’s Be, Without You and Mudfoot, all from the band’s 2000 album, were selected by director Charles Shouse for inclusion in the movie.

“This kind of just came from out of the blue,” singer Carlen Dixon said. “I got a call from Charles, the movie’s director, and he said he wanted to use a couple of our songs in a film he was making called Forever In Black Hills.”

“So he came by and we talked about it - and he was a really good guy who is trying to break into film - and I thought it was a great idea.”

Dixon also had praise for the film.

“As it turns out, this is a nice piece of work that Charles and his crew have created. We’re proud to be associated with it - and hopefully we’ll work together in the future.”

For more information on the movie, visit the film’s official website, www.foreverinblackhills.com.

Jimmy Flannery starts work on solo project

May 13th, 2003

Yes, it’s true - Jimmy Flannery will be stepping out for the first time in his music career to do his first ever solo project. We sat down with him and asked a few questions - here’s what he had to say.

“First off I would like to say - NO, FLANNERY is NOT breaking up. This is something I’ve wanted to do for sometime now and with Carlen just having a new baby he doesn’t have a lot of time at this point to commit to our new album. So, I spoke with Carlen and told him to take some time off to be with his new child and enjoy his family - plus he has a busy schedule as it is - so, this gave me a perfect time to do my solo project.”

“I’ll be in touch within the next few weeks. I have an interview scheduled for the 23rd of this month, so I’ll let all you FlanFans know how everything is coming. Til then - Rock On!”
